The Science Engineering & Environment (SEE) Building University of Salford

The University of Salford’s new state-of-the-art Science, Engineering and Environment Building (SEE Building) is a testament to its commitment to industry collaboration, providing a cutting-edge environment for students and staff to learn and conduct research.

Playing a pivotal role as the lab furniture manufacturer for the research and teaching laboratories, S+B UK worked in collaboration with Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure and Sheppard Robson Architects Manchester to create flexible spaces for students and staff that foster creativity and innovation.

To achieve this, S+B UK’s modular laboratory furniture and the Elevaire overhead service delivery system were critical components. The bespoke lab benches and mobile workstations were designed with a heavy-duty steel construction, enabling them to be arranged in various configurations to suit different experiments. These units can be easily connected to gases and electrical services from above, without having to move equipment, which streamlines workflow and minimizes disruption.

The modular laboratory furniture provides students and researchers with the freedom and flexibility to move around the lab, offering an ideal space to work on their projects. In addition to this, S+B UK provided custom-made units, lockers, under-bench mobile cupboards, and Asecos fire-rated cabinets that offer much-needed storage solutions in a laboratory environment.

S+B UK supplied Trespa worktops throughout the labs due to the resistance to a wide range of aggressive chemicals, making them ideal for use in a laboratory setting. This added layer of durability ensures that the labs will withstand the test of time, supporting collaborative research and learning for years to come.
