The International School of Helsinki offers a high-quality international educational experience for students from age 4-19 and serves diplomatic families, mobile expatriate families and local families who are seeking an open-minded and creative education.
In March 2019, following the viewing of the S+B SpaceStation video at the CEESA Conference and Exhibition, the Head Teacher at Helsinki International School, Kathleen Naglee, decided that this provided the WOW factor she was looking for to help stimulate greater interest amongst a larger cross-section of students in Science.
S+B provided the school with CAD drawings and 3D renderings of the future learning spaces designs and our Engineering Manager, Rob Morris visited the school prior to the manufacturing and installation process.
The installation of the furniture systems in two Science laboratories and one Prep Room took place in the summer of 2019 and was completed within 2 weeks, the newly refurbished spaces being enjoyed by students at the start of the new school year.
The innovative and functional design of the SpaceStation school furniture system is complemented by the color pallet chosen by the school, the black flooring and under bench panels giving the impression of a floating workstation, while the dusk worktops create a feeling of space and light. The lime green cupboards doors and drawers fronts add a vibrant note and transform the rooms in inspirational environments.
The high specification Corian worktops facilitate the seamlessly jointed moulded service consoles offering at the same time durable work surfaces due to their heat, impact and chemical resistance.
The Mobiline – a modern, easy to use and maintain re- locatable fume cupboard will be used in the new suite of laboratories.
